Helmets

A helmet is created from a Brace (Helmet) document. Open that document and the brace workflow starts at the Base step.

Production method decides the workflow​

The first choice you make sets the whole path. In the Base step, pick a Production method:

  • Milling: Brace produces a milled helmet. The workflow is Base to Correct to Export.
  • 3D Printing: Brace produces a 3D-printed helmet. The full workflow is Base to Correct to Design to Printing to Export.

The opening and wall thicknesses that shape a wearable helmet live in the Design and Printing steps, which only appear for the 3D Printing: Brace method. Choose your production method before you start correcting.

Workflow​

  1. Base: load the 3D scan, choose the production method and set the base shape.
  2. Correct: shape the helmet to the patient.
  3. Design (printed helmets only): add the opening, perforations and reinforcement.
  4. Printing (printed helmets only): set the wall thicknesses and edges.
  5. Export: send the helmet to production.
