How-to: Repairing 3D scans
Task-oriented guides for cleaning up and combining raw 3D scans before you design on them.
For screen-by-screen reference, see Repairing 3D Scans.
How do I remove noise from a scan?
- Click the 3D model in the viewport.
- In the object menu, click Split disjoint pieces.
- Click on the foot, the piece you want to keep. The noise islands are discarded.
tip
For stray floating pieces or noise islands next to the foot, prefer Split disjoint pieces over Automatic Cleanup.
How do I merge two scans?
- In the Base step, set the Scan spacing section. Leg piece (mm) sets how much to clip off part A, and Imprint (mm) how much to clip off part B, before merging.
- Align each part using its Part A or Part B object menu (Rotate, Clip, Delete region).
- LutraCAD runs the merge pipeline (flip, auto-position, merge, trim) automatically.
- Open the Export step to run the repair to completion and save.
note
When you use Clip, a confirm dialog appears. If the pieces are disjoint, a select-object dialog appears instead.
