Firmware and calibration
This page describes the Structure Sensor 3 and comes from the manufacturer, Structure (Occipital): structure.io. The text and the images are theirs, reproduced here so the setup and the app guide sit in one place. If structure.io and this page differ, they are right.
Needed only for the Structure Sensor workflow. Scanning with the FaceID Camera needs no bracket, no cable, no charging and no calibration.
Update the firmware
Install the Structure App from the App Store, open it and check for firmware updates. It also shows depth coverage, IR projector, battery status, and can submit a log to Structure support.
When the firmware is out of date, the TrueScan scan screen shows a Firmware update required notice. You can still scan, but update the firmware in the Structure App when you can. It cannot be updated from TrueScan.
Calibrate the sensor
Install the Structure Sensor Calibrator: Structure Sensor Calibrator on the App Store. It aligns the sensor with the iPad's camera. Follow its guided steps.
An uncalibrated sensor makes the TrueScan scan screen report Calibration required. Fixed here, not in TrueScan.
Next: Scanning with the Structure Sensor, or set your defaults in Settings.
